The Twilight Saga Reviews

Well, my lovely lady wife has been waiting for this movie since Twilight, and is a huge fan of the books, I thought I would keep her company. We saw the Twilight when it first came out, and I wasn't really impressed with that, so though, hey ho, go in with low expectations and hopefully I would be surprised.

The only problem was, I don't think I could have expected less and still been as bored as I was.

When in the theatre I was probably the oldest male at 37, apart from some dads that had been brought along by their kids, and several boyfriends, which is fair as I guess the film is aimed at the younger ladies than us old folks.

So, we sat down and I waited for anything to happen, well anything really. There was no chemistry at all between the leading actors, just a dull numbness which left me bored, I really don't know how Kristen Stewart got the role as she's possibly the most boring actress around and added nothing to the film at all, unless I guess she was just asked to play a spoilt brat with no brain.

I thought, maybe there is some suspense? Nope, none of that either. Bella does a very good job of not really showing any emotion either way and where in Twilight you there was at least a couple of times it made you think "something good might happen" there wasn't really a single moment in this film that stood out, although I was at some point expecting to see the teleprompter which some of the actors looked like they might have been using, so wooden was the performance.

It's a shame really that the other film I have seen recently "UP" you feel more attachment to the characters in that, than you do to the actors in this.

Yes, the CGI was good, the Wolves were pretty great. But like in 2012, throw a lot of money at CGI and be amazed, but that's about it. There so many little bits of story that really didn't seem to do anything, it really reminded me of another film directed by this lovely director, Golden Compass anyone?? All in all, pretty much a letdown, and that's with low expectations, if felt like just another suck on the wallet by Hollywood to our pockets.

If you are thinking of this film, and really if you read most of the reviews on this site I can't imagine why, wait until it comes onto DVD. Rent it for £1 and you can get a couple of cheap laughs at the acting, and for the ladies, buff men, apart from that give it a miss.

Twilight (2008)

Twilight (2008)

A teenage girl risks everything when she falls in love with a vampire
Director:Catherine Hardwicke

Writers:Melissa Rosenberg (screenplay), Stephenie Meyer (novel)

Stars:Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Billy Burke

Storyline

Bella Swan has always been a little bit different. Never one to run with the crowd, Bella never cared about fitting in with the trendy, plastic girls at her Phoenix, Arizona high school. When her mother remarried and Bella chooses to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she didn't expect much of anything to change. But things do change when she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen. For Edward is nothing like any boy she's ever met. He's nothing like anyone she's ever met, period. He's intelligent and witty, and he seems to see straight into her soul. In no time at all, they are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance - unorthodox because Edward really isn't like the other boys. He can run faster than a mountain lion. He can stop a moving car with his bare hands. Oh, and he hasn't aged since 1918. Like all vampires, he's immortal. That's right - vampire. But he doesn't have fangs - that's just in the movies.

User Reviews

I saw this for free at the Recreational Center on my college campus, and it became the first movie I ever walked out of. As a horror movie fan and a film director, I have never felt so insulted in my life. Since when can vampires survive in daylight. I loved the line "You avoid daylight".... PRETTY MUCH THE WHOLE FILM TOOK PLACE IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!!!! Apparently now they just glow and show their "true form" Really? What's next, werewolves will start drinking liquid silver for breakfast? Frankenstein becomes a fire twirler? Might as well, the rules of movie monsters apparently do not apply anymore. When the main vampire (I didn't care enough to catch his name) said "We consider ourselves vegetarians", that was all I could take. Everyone involved with this film should have stakes shoved through their hearts for conspiring to create this garbage. Anybody who likes vampires should agree with me. If you don't, you are a poser my friend. That is the cold, hard truth.

Dilwale made me glad to be a Westerner, just so I could experience the sheer rush in the glorious way this film simply throws its Indian sensibility in your face. It is one of the most completely, openly joyful films I have ever seen. In many ways a totally Western film, it is yet completely un-Western, and absolutely invigorating.

I found the (rather oddly looped in places) mix of Hindi and English dialog to be a lot of fun to follow (as incomplete as the subtitles sometimes seemed). The Indian/Western pop structure of the songs was entertaining and infectious. The choreography is simply amazing, and some of the most sheerly athletic I've seen. The Indian roots of the dance routines were at first almost unnerving--at once familiar yet bizarre, almost surreal (to my Western eyes). It was sheer fun making the cultural adjustment.

The plot is predictable, almost pedestrian--certainly not what you'd call "never done before," and yet I found myself completely absorbed in the story, and rooting for the main characters. This is in large part due to Shahrukh Khan's and Kajol's performances as Raj and Simran. He is totally endearing, and she is totally hot!, and their on screen chemistry is as cute & perky and smoldering & steamy as Fred and Ginger at their peak. It was, simply put, fun to watch them having so much fun.

Director Aditya Chopra was, I understand, only 24 when he made Dilwale, and the film was so successful its Indian first run lasted a world-record 11 years (and may still be going on, as far as I know). A heckuva testimony to Bollywood indeed. This movie has instantly become one of my favorite musicals, and I look forward to finding more films from Chopra, Khan, and Kajol. What a treat!

Gangnam Blue Reviews

what we got here is a very badly scripted clichéd screenplay with very pretentious dialog, then we got a very deadbeat director who failed to ignite those who signed up for playing the roles in it. there were several segments of this film that made me feel like watching a lousy Korean pornographic crap. those intercourse, fornication scenes are just absolutely unnecessary, yet this brain-dead director just added and inserted those love-making scenes. every time when the clueless sexual stuff suddenly showed up, i just couldn't help myself to curse. this film was trying to portray the Korean politicians using the gangsters to rip the land from the poor, and the real estates business and values in Korea were starting to boom. the storyline is very weak, and most of the acting performed by almost every actor in this film was not good, therefore it failed to get me connected. a very bad film that the Korean movie industry rarely under achieved in recent years, since most of their recent products are very good, some of them are even light-year better than what Hollywood did in recent years. i have to confess that i didn't finish it, because it's one of the worst Korean films.

Hate Story 3 Reviews

Bhatt camp had successfully launched franchises of erotic-sex thrillers like Raaz , Jannat , Murder and Hate Story. The combo of skin-show, melodious music and powerful performances worked well for Hate Story and its sequel giving an extra edge over others. While, Hate Story was a complete surprise considering the trailer showed exotic and bold scenes by Paoli Dam, but more than that, it had fine performances by the star cast and good story. Hate Story 2 also did have few moments to keep you engaged. Production values and star- cast of Hate Story 3 looked bigger and better, but the film is a complete waste of time .

Aditya ( Sharman Joshi ) and Siya ( Zarine Khan ) are happily married and living life to the fullest. Enters Saurav Singhania ( Karan Singh Gover) in the scene and the lives of lovely couple changes overnight when he offers a business deal which Aditya cannot refuse.

The only difference in Hate Story 3 as compared to its previous films is that the revenge drama is based from a male perspective. The franchise is known for its extremely erotic scenes and cat-mouse game. Hate Story 3 has lots of steamy scenes, melodious songs minus script and thriller which should have been key to keep audience interest alive. The definition of story, script and direction does not fit in the film. In few scenes, you will wonder how amateurish can Vishal Pandya (director) get. There is a scene where Karan Singh Grover is fighting for his life in the hospital and in the next scene, he is jumping and running all over the place fighting with enemies. Just before the intermission, we see couple ( Sharman Joshi and Zarine Khan) quarreling in their dining room and all of sudden, Karan Singh Grover enters the scene – Did the director forgot to keep the door locked ? The torture does not end here, the dialogues like "Aap Haar Maan Na Nahi Chahte, Aur Maine Haar Maanna Sikha Nahi. Toh Abh Dekhna Yeh Hai Ki Jeet Ta Kaun Hain" and "Matlab Jaan Jaay Lekin Sambhog Hone Na Paaye" reminds that you are watching a 90's film and will make you scratch your head.

There is no plot here and frequent insertion of songs just spoils the entire mood of the film. Art direction and Cinematography is decent. Editing is horrible. Coming to the performances, none of actors could do justice to their roles. Sharman Joshi was extremely loud with irritating usage of f**k word in every dialogue he says. Zarine Khan and Daisy Shah were used to add glamour and nothing else. They better continue doing what they do the best – item songs. Karan Singh Grover is completely wooden. His dialogue delivery minus expression will make you feel as if reading a text book.

3 Idiots Reviews

Aamir does it again. what a movie .from start to the end, hilarious moments.screenplay is fantastic. full on comedy and yet it never looses its heart. Aamir pulls off a 22 year old character with brilliance. never for once you feel you are watching aamir .It was rancho on screen. sharman n madhavan - i bow down to them. music looks OK on cd but during movie it worked as a plus point. situational tracks works in the favour of film. runtime may sound a bit too much but believe me, you wont know when the first half is over. second half may seem a bit too hilarious but apart from that its a masterpiece. gr8 aamir ,another brilliant movie.10/10

Devdas Reviews

SLB is a god gifted director to bollywood and i am again spellbound by his work. He is the only director who can remake a super hit 1960s movie in 2002 with the same essence. This movie was marvelously made with a powerful star cast with mesmerizing scenes, dialogues and music at the same time.

Aishwarya rai has done her best and Madhuri was the same refreshing as 8 years ago. Shahrukh khan to put his best and this makes this movies unforgettable.

I consider this movie as one of the best movies made in India. I recommend this movie to everyone because even after the end, this movie won't get out of your mind.
